3 Sectors That Can Leverage Telepresence Robots

After the COVID-19 pandemic, the government shut doors and sent many workers back home. Since the doors are open again, people can return. However, most of those who aren’t are. There are reports indicating that 3.5 million people are not present.

I have experienced this in person. My son and I tried to walk into a shop and were greeted by the door being locked and an indication that this store is closed as the management could not find someone to work. Since I am a regular user of remote workers, the message made me think. Are there ways in which remote workers can be used to address the issues that stores like this are facing?

When I encountered the same issue, I was able to come up with a feasible solution at the time. When I needed help from employees for certain tasks, even though I knew that there were remote workers that I could get, I wanted to have them present. This is when I started researching the possibility of telepresence robots.

Remote-controlled robots that are able to work with portable devices like tablets or computers are taking telepresence to the next level. Apart from being able to view an area from afar and control remote workers to move about in the space, For instance, when remote workers are participating in an early lunch Zoom meeting, they’ll usually close their browsers when the meeting has ended. The remote worker can join their colleagues from the lunchroom using a telepresence robot.

Telepresence robots can be beneficial to these three sectors.

While allowing a remote worker to accompany lunch may seem unnecessary, there are plenty of ways this technology can improve productivity, increase availability, and provide a safe work environment. Here are a few instances of industries where robots with telepresence could be utilized.

1.The medical sector can increase safety and accessibility.

In the medical field, securing personnel from infections is an important aspect. To achieve this, healthcare professionals must use an array of personal protection equipment and safety protocols to ensure that they are not exposed. If consultations with patients take place via the telepresence system, the risks of infection are not an issue.

The technology could also drastically improve the efficiency of healthcare by reducing the necessity for transportation. For instance, an on-site remote presence robot in an extended care facility may enable medical doctors and other professionals to conduct consultations with patients at a distant location. Because they do not have to travel physically to their office, doctors are able to spend more time with their patients as well as extend their hours of operation.

Additionally, telepresence robotics let remote workers serve as virtual concierges for patients who visit their health care provider. They are able to greet patients when they arrive, assist patients through the process of signing up, and then take them to exam rooms and assist with payment or scheduling follow-up appointments. Contrary to AI-driven technology that assists patients with computers that sign  in, telepresence robots link patients to a real person who is better able to manage specific needs that arise.

2.Education may provide opportunities to extend your career.

The COVID-19 pandemic exposed students at all levels to the concept of remote learning. With schools now open to students again, greater than 80 percent of students are recommending an approach to learning that is hybrid. Telepresence robots could be a major factor in helping to make that more effective.

Telepresence robots provide remote students the chance to communicate with their classmates in real-time and move around the classroom when small groups are created and their focus shifts during classroom discussions. Teachers who teach using remote robots benefit from the fact that they do not have to divert their attention between on-site and remote pupils.

Telepresence robots also provide the opportunity for young teachers to be able to teach in classrooms. Instead of being restricted to local schools, teachers in training have the opportunity to benefit from opportunities all over the country and even all over the world. This is especially beneficial for teachers with specialisations in fields that aren’t available in their area of expertise.

3.Real estate can unlocked more doors for clients.

Moving to a new location is becoming more and more popular. Recent data shows that almost 25 percent of Redfin users are interested in homes outside of their respective cities. However, realtors know that renting or buying a property without actually walking in it first isn’t something many would be willing to do, even though they’ve seen photos. A good experience will bring potential buyers onto the premises to explore the property.

Telepresence robots enable realtors to cater to clients who are out of town or who are wary of entering an area without covering the space. Through guiding remote customers through the area and responding to questions in real-time, the professionals can provide the experience of being on site. This is a way to make their services stand out from those of those who do not use technology in their customer relationships.

If your company is like the majority, you rely on technology that wasn’t even there 10 years ago. In order to adopt it, you had to change. You needed to think about it again. It was necessary to change. Although a robot that can teleport might seem like an outlandish concept to you, it’s actually being used in a variety of different industries. The possibilities are endless. an array of new applications that can help take your business into the future.
